ATTENTION - information below is NOT for people with proved Lyme Disease. It's for folks with headache and positive PCR test, who are trying 3 months antibiotics therapy just because it MIGHT be Lyme.

The main problem with Lyme is the therapy - sometimes it's a long antibiotic ride, with really strong doses of treatment, a dangerous one. Really dangerous. So let's talk about antibiotics, maybe some folks will understand why proving Lyme is most important part of the treatment - simple as this, the wrong diagnosis might cost you a life.

First of all, the antibiotic therapy damages your immune system - by killing intestine bacteria, then ones that live on our skin by stopping all infections before white cells even start their work. We are widely open to all fungi and viral infections, parasites, protozoa infections, even some kinds of cancer. Very often the common weakness of immunologic system is missdiagnosed as Lyme. If such weakness will be treated by the antibiotic, it might result in really serious problems. At the very beginning of therapy the result will be positive, but after a few weeks...Well, viral infections show no mercy.

Another problem - it's impossible to judge if our problem is really Lyme. Maybe we have just a few bacteria, easily treated by our white blood cells, and our main main problem is a protoza infection, caused by a thick bite? In such case an antibiotic might destroy our only defence againt protozoas, and now we have the real PROBLEM.

And so on - an candida infection. Some candida species are immune to the typical treatment, and moreover they cause identical symptoms as Lyme itself, including the central nervous system malfunction. Our only defence against them are our infestinal bacteria, ones that are killed by the antibiotic - so we are defenceless. The fungi are growing, and after a few days they gave a pretty good pseudo-herx reaction.

Kids - they are really sensitive to antiobiotics. My friend was treated by a strong medicine when he was very young. Trust me, you do NOT want your child to be like him. 21 old guy without teeth, with thick bones - like girl,

"Super bugs". It's called "natural selection". After every antibiotic therapy some bacteria survive - and they are resistant against this medicine. Soon we will have bugs resistant to every known drug. There already are some species in hospitals.

Ok, conclusion - therapy against Lyme is a risky businnes. If this is the misdiagnosed disease, therapy can simply kill you, and in best case it will multiply your health problems. Your real disease might be way harder to cure then. It goes for the common antibiotic therapy. Uncommon ones, like the ABX suggested by ILADS may cause problems that will remain with your to the end of your days.

If you really HAVE TO use such drugs, always remember to use Nystatyne (or other yeast-killer), always use probiotics, always use "natural" methods of increase immunologic response. It might save your life.
